Preparation and repairs
Ask whether washing, scraping, sanding, patching and caulking are included. Describe damaged surfaces so repairs are not confused with painting alone.
Products and coverage
Request the paint product, finish, primer requirements and number of coats in writing. Identify whether ceilings, trim, doors and closets are included.
Access and cleanup
Discuss moving furniture, protecting floors and landscaping, access to upper stories, daily cleanup and the process for a final walkthrough.
Complete project price
Confirm whether the quoted total includes taxes, visit fees, delivery and disposal. Keep hourly rates in the notes until you have a project total.
Changes and extra work
Ask how unexpected work will be priced and approved before it starts. Record allowances and exclusions.
Timing and payment terms
Ask for the expected start, duration, deposit and payment milestones in writing.
